Public-private effort to reduce antibiotic use in salmon farming makes progress
The Yelcho Project’s experimental trial will mark a milestone in the search for effective solutions to prevent SRS. Progress is expected in this key stage in the coming months.
The Yelcho Project is an initiative between state agencies and the private sector aimed at reducing the use of antibiotics in salmon farming through preventative strategies. The initiative involves the participation of Chile’s National Fisheries Service (SERNAPESCA) and Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG), in addition to 10 salmon farming companies represented by SalmonChile and the Consejo del Salmón (Salmon Council), with coordination by Aquabench.
