Yelcho Alliance presents scope of its operations in first half of 2025
As part of its short-term action plan, the public-private body defined the need to strengthen its approach with pharmaceutical companies and research centers. This will support the search for new technologies to help prevent and control SRS and allow the alliance to move forward with scheduled experimental trials and field tests, as well as to hold a closed scientific conference on the bacterial disease.
The first experimental trial developed by the Yelcho Alliance will begin on August 1, with the aim of evaluating new health strategies for the prevention of Piscirickettsiosis (SRS) in Chilean salmon farming. The trial, which marks a milestone in the search for effective solutions for the prevention of SRS, will be developed by The Challenge Room at its research center in Chile’s Los Lagos Region. In total, seven vaccine proposals will be evaluated, with trials conducted at 650 and 1800 accumulated thermal units (ATU) using both strains of Piscirickettsia: EM90 and LF89.
